Product Description
The 5I-7952 turbocharger is associated with the Mitsubishi 49179-02260 reference and is used for Caterpillar E320 applications with the S6K diesel engine. The same Mitsubishi number may also be written as 4917902260 in old purchase records and supplier systems.
When replacing this turbocharger, use the old turbo tag as the primary identification point. Caterpillar 320-series excavators use more than one turbocharger configuration, so a machine described only as “CAT 320” is not enough to confirm the correct unit.
Similar Caterpillar machine names can appear with different engine and turbocharger combinations. If the removed unit shows 5I-7952 or 49179-02260, this page is the appropriate replacement direction. A different turbo tag should be checked separately rather than treated as automatically interchangeable.
This is especially important when the machine has had a previous engine or turbocharger replacement. In that situation, the actual engine plate and turbo tag are more reliable than the excavator decal or model name alone.
