Product Description
The 4820234 / 482-0234 turbocharger is supplied for Caterpillar C4.4 diesel engine applications. It is commonly checked for CAT 320GC excavator, CW34 compactor and related C4.4 engine repair. This turbocharger is used to restore boost pressure, improve air intake volume and support stable engine output when the old turbocharger has weak boost, oil leakage, abnormal noise, damaged wheel blades or excessive shaft play.
This replacement turbocharger should be matched by the old turbocharger number, engine model, machine model and removed sample. Since turbocharger housing, flange layout, compressor outlet direction and oil pipe positions can vary by machine version and previous repair history, the old turbocharger tag and sample photos should be checked before order confirmation.
| Part Number | 4820234 / 482-0234 |
| Ref Cross | 2674A805 / T422423 |
| Product Type | Engine Turbocharger / Turbocharger Assembly |
| Engine Model | Caterpillar C4.4 Diesel Engine |
| Main Application | Caterpillar 320GC Excavator |
| Related Application | CW34 Compactor and related C4.4 engine applications, verify by old turbo tag and sample photos |
| Matching Method | Confirm by old turbocharger nameplate, engine plate, machine model and removed sample photos |
For CAT 320GC and CW34 applications, the safest confirmation method is to check the Caterpillar C4.4 engine model together with the old turbocharger number. Machine model alone is not enough for final matching because the same equipment family can use different turbocharger arrangements depending on serial range, engine configuration and previous replacement history.
Machine Check: Confirm Caterpillar 320GC, CW34 or the actual equipment model from the buyer.
Engine Check: Confirm Caterpillar C4.4 from the engine plate or service record.
Turbo Tag Check: Check for 4820234, 482-0234, 2674A805 or T422423 on the old turbocharger tag or purchase record.
Housing Check: Compare compressor housing, turbine housing, outlet direction, flange type and mounting layout.
Oil Line Check: Confirm oil inlet, oil outlet, pipe position and return line direction.
Photo Check: Provide clear photos of the nameplate side, compressor side, turbine side and mounting side before quotation.
A worn 4820234 turbocharger can cause low boost pressure, black smoke, weak acceleration, oil leakage, abnormal turbo noise, damaged compressor wheel or excessive shaft clearance. Before replacing the turbocharger, the air intake, exhaust and lubrication systems should be checked to reduce the risk of repeat turbo failure.
Low Boost or Black Smoke: Check the air filter, intake pipe, intercooler pipe, compressor wheel condition and boost leakage.
Weak Engine Power: Inspect the compressor wheel, turbine wheel, exhaust leak, boost hose and fuel injection condition.
Oil Leakage: Check the oil feed line, oil return line and crankcase ventilation. A blocked oil return line can cause oil leakage at the turbocharger seal area.
Abnormal Turbo Noise: Check shaft play, bearing wear, wheel contact marks and signs of contaminated oil or foreign object damage.
Repeated Turbo Failure: Check blocked oil lines, poor lubrication, dirty air intake, exhaust restriction and the root cause of the previous failure.

Before replacing the 4820234 turbocharger, inspect the air filter, air intake pipe, exhaust manifold, oil feed line and oil return line. Turbocharger damage is often caused by dirty oil, blocked oil return, air restriction, exhaust leakage or foreign object damage from the intake side.
During installation, add clean engine oil into the turbocharger oil inlet and rotate the compressor wheel by hand before the first engine start. After installation, check for oil leakage, abnormal turbo noise, black smoke, blue smoke, weak boost and unstable engine response during low-speed and working-speed testing.
Is 4820234 the main part number for this product?
Yes. 4820234 / 482-0234 is the main part number for this Caterpillar C4.4 turbocharger direction. The old turbocharger tag should still be checked before ordering.
Can 2674A805 be used as Ref Cross?
Yes. 2674A805 can be used as a Ref Cross reference for this 4820234 turbocharger direction. Final matching should still be confirmed by the old turbocharger tag and sample photos.
Is this turbocharger for Caterpillar 320GC?
It can be checked for Caterpillar 320GC applications when the engine model, old turbocharger number and sample photos match this 4820234 / C4.4 direction.
Can this turbocharger be checked for CW34 compactor?
Yes. It can be checked for CW34 compactor applications when the Caterpillar C4.4 engine information and old turbocharger tag match this product direction.
Why should the old turbocharger sample be checked?
Turbochargers with similar engine applications can still differ by housing, flange, oil line position and outlet direction. The old turbocharger tag and sample photos help confirm the correct replacement before shipment.
What should I provide before ordering?
Please provide the old turbocharger part number, turbo nameplate photo, engine model, equipment model and clear photos of the removed turbocharger.
