Product Description

YN32W01008P1 Swing 2nd Planetary Gear

The YN32W01008P1 planetary gear is used in the second planetary reduction stage of selected Kobelco excavator swing gearboxes. It works together with the other planet gears in the carrier to transfer torque while reducing swing motor speed.

This 18-tooth gear rotates on its carrier support while simultaneously meshing with the surrounding reduction gears. Tooth condition, center bore accuracy and bearing fit all affect how evenly the swing load is shared.

Because several identical planetary gears operate together in the same reduction stage, one damaged gear can also provide useful evidence about the condition of the complete gear set.

Four Planet Gears Work as One Reduction Set

The second-stage carrier uses multiple planetary gears to divide torque across several contact points. Under normal conditions, the gears should show reasonably similar working patterns.

If one planetary gear has significantly heavier tooth wear than the others, the problem may involve carrier alignment, bearing clearance or an uneven support position rather than the gear alone.

Comparing all gears from the same carrier before rebuilding the gearbox can help identify the actual cause of the failure.

The Center Bore Is as Important as the Gear Teeth

A planetary gear does not only rely on its external tooth profile. The center bore and bearing area must also maintain the correct relationship with the carrier support.

Excessive bore wear can allow the gear to tilt during rotation. Even a small amount of unwanted movement can change the tooth contact pattern and concentrate load near one edge of the gear.

When the bore surface shows scoring, irregular wear or excessive clearance, the associated bearing and carrier support should also be inspected.

Typical Planetary Gear Damage

  • Pitting or fatigue marks on the working tooth surfaces

  • Chipped or broken tooth edges

  • Uneven tooth contact across the gear width

  • Scoring or abnormal wear inside the center bore

  • Heat discoloration caused by lubrication problems

  • Metal particles found in the swing gearbox oil

If several gears show the same damage pattern, lubrication or gearbox alignment should be checked before new components are installed.

18 Teeth Alone Does Not Confirm Fitment

Tooth count is useful when identifying a planetary gear, but different swing gearboxes can use gears with similar tooth counts and external appearance.

Outside diameter, center bore, gear width, bearing arrangement and reduction-stage position should also match the original component.

Machine serial number and swing gearbox information are particularly useful when the excavator has previously received a rebuilt or replacement swing reduction unit.

Information Needed for Fitment Verification

For a more reliable identification, send the following information with your inquiry:

  • Excavator model and machine serial number

  • Swing reduction gearbox information

  • Clear front and side photos of the original planetary gear

  • Confirmed tooth count

  • Outside diameter and center bore diameter

  • Overall gear width

These details help distinguish visually similar planetary gears used in different swing reduction stages.
