Product Description

20Y-06-21710: Protect Your Equipment & Optimize Machine Uptime

Don't let a faulty pressure switch ground your entire Komatsu fleet. A failing hydraulic sensor sends erratic signals to the equipment's ECM, which can force your excavator into limp mode, trigger false dashboard alarms, or prevent the hydraulic pump from adjusting flow properly—leading to severe engine lugging and wasted fuel.

Engineered with a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) focus, our 20Y-06-21710 aftermarket pressure switch provides OEM-level signal accuracy and durability. Built with a high-grade brass body and heat-treated internal components, this sensor withstands extreme hydraulic pressure spikes and intense temperature fluctuations. By delivering precise real-time pressure data to your control modules, this switch prevents costly secondary damage to your major hydraulic components and eliminates expensive diagnostic downtime.

Common Fault Codes & Troubleshooting (Professional Diagnostics)

Unlike 3-wire analog sensors, the 20Y-06-21710 is a 2-pin on/off pressure switch. When it fails, it disrupts the Pilot Pressure Control (PPC) feedback loop. Watch for these specific monitor codes and symptoms:

  • Fault Code / Monitor Warning: E02 (PC-EPC System Error)

    • Symptom: The excavator feels sluggish, and the dashboard displays the E02 error or "CALL E04" (Joystick System Error).

    • Troubleshooting: If the internal contacts of the 20Y-06-21710 switch short circuit, it can disrupt the voltage reference of the pump controller. Unplug the 2-pin connector from the switch. If the E02 code clears, the switch is internally shorted and must be replaced immediately.

  • Symptom: Auto-Deceleration (Auto-Idle) Failure

    • Stuck OPEN: The ECM doesn't know you moved the joystick. The engine stays at low idle even under heavy load, causing the machine to stall or react extremely slowly.

    • Stuck CLOSED: The ECM thinks the joystick is always moving. The engine will never automatically drop to idle (Auto-Deceleration fails), wasting expensive diesel fuel and increasing wear.

    • Diagnostic Mode Check: While there is no direct dashboard E-code for a severed wire, mechanics can check the Monitor Panel Diagnostic Mode (Input Signal System Bit Pattern 20 or 21).

    • Troubleshooting: This switch tells the ECM when a hydraulic function (boom, arm, swing, or travel) is activated.

  • Symptom: Fluid Migrating Through the Harness (CRITICAL)

    • Troubleshooting: Disconnect the electrical plug from the switch. If you see hydraulic oil inside the plastic connector or on the metal pins, the switch's internal brass diaphragm has ruptured under pressure spikes. You must replace the switch immediately. If ignored, pressurized hydraulic fluid will use capillary action to travel up the wiring harness and permanently destroy the main computer board (ECM).

Critical Installation Protocols

To ensure optimal performance and maintain your warranty, follow these installation guidelines:

  • Torque to Spec: Do NOT over-tighten! The brass body uses a 1/4" G thread. Over-torquing the threaded fitting can warp the internal sensing diaphragm, causing immediate miscalibration and voiding the warranty.

  • Dielectric Cleaning: Always clean the mating wiring harness connector on the machine side with electronic contact cleaner before installation. A brand-new switch will not fix high electrical resistance caused by a dirty, oxidized plug.

  • Seal Verification: Ensure the mounting port is completely clean and free of debris before threading in the new sensor to prevent high-pressure hydraulic leaks.
